If you are looking for a tough manageable speaker of decent quality, JBL is one brand that offers the best choices on the market. JBL’s portable speakers have become very popular because people with the modern lifestyle nowadays are very active, so they need things that can also be mobile, including the speaker. Two popular portable speaker models by JBL are Charge and Xtreme. Both are compact and lightweight speakers that you can easily bring along whenever, wherever you go. However, JBL Xtreme is slightly more expensive than JBL Charge. So, what’s actually the difference between Charge and Xtreme?
JBL Charge is the smaller and lighter one out of the two. By being so compact, JBL Charge can be easily pocketed in your jeans. It is armed with a pair of 45 mm drivers, and features an onboard control panel for easily switching tracks and adjusting volume. In addition, JBL Charge is available in more color choices, such as black, gray, blue, turquoise, and red.
On the other hand, JBL Xtreme is slightly bigger. It features four 63 mm drivers that deliver stereo sound for a richer surround experience. It also has an onboard control panel, and is available in black, blue, and white color choices. Both JBL Charge and JBL Xtreme are splashproof, meaning that they can withstand some rain and accidental spills.
Both models have Bluetooth for connecting wirelessly to your smartphone, but they each also have an aux input for playing with an MP3 player or a portable CD/DVD player. Each of the two JBL models is able to connect up to three devices wirelessly to play music tracks from those devices in turn.
Both speaker models are able to charge your mobile devices via USB. JBL Charge has a single USB port, whereas JBL Xtreme has two USB ports. The USB is only for charging your mobile devices and cannot be used to stream music.
Due to the bigger drivers, JBL Xtreme has become able to deliver better bass. Low-frequency sounds benefit from a bigger driver because it allows these sounds to be projected more fully and more accurately. In addition, it delivers stereo sound output, making it much more immersive than JBL Charge.
