On the other hand, KEF Q300 is only available in black oak and European walnut colors. Each of the two models comes with a 6.5” woofer and a 1.0” tweeter. Comparing the performance levels, we must say that KEF Q300 has the better edge here. It is slightly more powerful and has richer, more accurate tones. The bass is noticeably deeper and fuller. Indeed, KEF Q300 has a higher maximum SPL handling than Monitor Audio BX2, which means that is able to deliver louder volume levels while keeping the audio quality solid and intact. The frequency response range is 42 Hz – 40 kHz. As a comparison, Monitor Audio BX2 only has a frequency response range of 42 Hz – 30 kHz. The wider frequency response range seems to be the reason behind the more well-defined bass.

Each model has 8 Ohms impedance. However, KEF Q300 is a little bit more flexible with its power requirement, as it can work with an amplifier of 15 – 120 W. On the other hand, Monitor Audio BX2 is compatible with an amp of 30 – 100 W. In addition, KEF Q300 has a lower crossover frequency than Monitor Audio BX2. When connected to a subwoofer, KEF Q300 can still produce audio signals down to 2.5 kHz, whereas Monitor Audio BX2’s crossover frequency is limited to 3.2 kHz.

In general, KEF Q300 is the best way to go. It has better audio performance and more accurate bass. The crossover frequency is also lower, allowing for easier and more flexible adjustment when integrated to a subwoofer or home theater system.
