MXL 770 Vs AT2020

MXL 770 is a condenser microphone with cardioid polar pattern featuring a high-quality FET preamp with balanced output for dynamic range. The audio output is characterized by silky and powerful high-ends as well as solid lows, loved by many recording artists especially rappers. Another unique feature is the switchable bass cut for deep noise attenuation whenever needed and the -10 dB pad. The frequency response range is 30 Hz – 20 kHz while the maximum SPL is 137 dB.

AT2020, also a cardioid condenser microphone, has a custom-engineered diaphragm that helps in extending its frequency response range to 20 Hz – 20 kHz. Its output is somehow more stable compared to MXL 770, as well as more neutral and natural. Therefore, it is more suitable for users who demand versatility. AT2020 provides a higher maximum SPL than MXL 770 with 144 dB and is noticeably lighter in weight. Both MXL 770 and AT2020 require 48 V phantom power input.
