Design
If compactness and portability are very important to you, QSC K8 and Yamaha DXR8 are certainly great choices. Actually, QSC K8 is a little bit smaller and more lightweight compared to Yamaha DXR8, but the differences are rather small and marginal. Quite coincidentally, both models feature ABS enclosures that are very rugged and durable. Each of them has been designed carefully and sophisticatedly to be robust without sacrificing audio quality. QSC K8 is coming with an 8” woofer and a 1.75” tweeter, while Yamaha DXR8 has an 8” woofer and a 1.4” tweeter. They each feature an integrated mixer and EQ controls accessible on the rear panel.

Performance
QSC K8 is especially famous for its exceptional performance. Many people often go as far as considering QSC K8 as the best product available in the class. Thanks to the 1000-Watt power module, the speaker can effortlessly produce decent volume levels without breaking the sound. The peak power rating is 2000 Watts. The maximum SPL handling is 127 dB, whereas the frequency response range is 61 Hz – 20 kHz. It comes with sufficient power for a small studio room or a small gig. The audio reproduction is bright and crisp. It reproduces mids and highs very accurately.

On the other hand, Yamaha DXR8 is coming with a frequency response range of 57 Hz – 20 kHz. As you can see, it is able to reach lower frequencies, which means that it supposedly has better bass. Compared to QSC K8, the bass indeed feels slightly fuller and deeper. The mids and highs are decent. However, Yamaha DXR8’s RMS power rating is only 700 Watts, and the peak power rating is just 1100 Watts. This means that the volume levels are not as loud as QSC K8.
