Are you looking for a noise-canceling headset? Well, after some searching and browsing, you have found two famous noise canceling headsets: Bose A20 and Bose QC25. Bose A20 is actually intended for pilots; it is an aviation headset. You know, the engine noise in the cockpit cabin can get all too loud that you can lose your hearing there. That’s Bose A20 is offering a particularly high noise canceling power. But the headset can be used for other purposes, too, indeed, if you don’t mind the extremely high price. On the other hand, Bose QC25 is intended for casual applications, available at a much lower price point. Bose QC25 also have the active noise cancellation feature. So, which model should you choose?
Since an aviation headset tends to be used for hours continuously, comfort becomes a vital factor. To provide the best comfort, Bose A20 has been equipped with very thick pads on the headband. This way, the top of your head will not get tired and will stay comfy, even after hours. The ear cups fit tightly and securely to seal away the environmental noise. Bose A20 is relatively bulky and heavy. There is a somewhat big mic integrated to the headset.
On the other hand, Bose QC25 has been intended for more casual applications, which is evident from the design. It is compact and lightweight, and it is even foldable for easy portability. The headband is also padded, but not as thick. The ear cups are soft and comfy. The model is available in several color variants, such as black, white, alloy, and goldrush. A mic is integrated into the inline mini pad.
In addition to the dual plugs, Bose A20 also has Bluetooth. You can receive sound signals from both the cables and Bluetooth simultaneously, or turn off one of the channels to focus on the other. BoseQC25 is a wired model without any wireless connectivity.
Bose A20 indeed has significantly more powerful noise cancellation. It is able to reduce cockpit noise to near zero. The audio quality is great; it can deliver satisfyingly sharp, crisp, and detailed sounds with great clarity. Due to the powerful noise cancellation, you can take advantage of the headset for work, for example to protect your hearing from loud engine noise, or simply to concentrate without getting disturbed by the environment. Bose QC25’s noise cancellation is good enough for daily use, and the active equalizer is also very nice for music. But Bose QC25 is not strong enough to attenuate extreme sound levels.
