JBL Flip 4 Vs Charge 3

In the following article, we will see the comparisons between JBL Flip 4 vs Charge 3, two portable wireless speakers that are available in a similar price range. They indeed look very similar to each other, but there are some differences that set them apart. JBL Flip 4 is much more compact, making it a great choice for easy traveling, but JBL Charge 3 offers more output power and arguably better performance.

Design and Build Quality
First of all, you may need to consider whether you really need a compact speaker that can be put easily in a purse or pocket. If you do, JBL Flip 4 makes the way to go. This model is very compact and lightweight. It only measures 6.89” x 2.68” x 2.76”, and the weight is barely 1.13 lbs. It is very convenient to bring around. If you don’t mind about a bigger body, JBL Charge 3 is still a viable option. Compared to JBL Flip 4, it is much larger at 8.38” x 3.42” x 3.48”. The weight is about 1.76 lbs. However, it is still quite portable; you can easily slip it into a spare space in your backpack.

JBL Flip 4 has a base that is wide enough to allow the speaker to stand still while the passive radiators are banging some bass. The base is made of a rubber strip. There is a protective rubber flap that shields the 3.5mm jack and the micro USB charging port. On the other hand, JBL Charge 3 features a wide, solid rubber base and the same two ports with another USB port that you can use to charge another smart device.

Both JBL Flip 4 vs Charge 3 speakers are waterproof with the IPX7 water rating. They can withstand submersion underwater for up to 30 minutes. They both feature sturdy rubber and fabric enclosures that function to keep water out.

Both JBL Flip 4 and JBL Charge 3 can link to multiple speakers to play simultaneously. However, JBL Flip 4 uses the JBL Connect+ feature, which is newer than JBL Charge 3’s JBL Connect. As the effect, they are not compatible to each other. JBL Connect+ allows up to 100 speakers to be connected together.

Battery Life
JBL Flip 4 has a good battery life. It can run continuously for up to12 hours per charge. It takes about 3.5 hours to recharge. On the other hand, JBL Charge 3 does come with a bigger battery which can last for up to 20 hours per charge. JBL Charge 3 takes about 4.5 hours to recharge.

Sound Quality
Between these two models, JBL Flip 4 is indeed the weaker one. It has a lower output power. It has a bright, accurate sound. The output is quite detailed. However, it is only suitable for personal listening and usage in a small room.

On the other hand, JBL Charge 3 is quite more powerful. The sound is louder without a significant distortion. Plus, despite using passive radiators, the bass performance is quite impressive. It has deep and accurate bass.
