Many of us are listening to music daily and the streaming service makes it easier for people to find new music or artists to expand their library. The file quality and the hardware matter when it comes to sound quality and experience. With paid service, users can choose the level of quality they want to choose from and we can invest on higher end equipment as well for better experience. For those who want to listen to the music conveniently, a Bluetooth speaker will be ideal.
The Bluetooth speakers are very popular and while it is not a fancy device anymore, they are still widely used today. The equipment is like any speakers but usually more compact such as Harman Kardon Onyx 5 Vs JBL Xtreme 2. The speakers are useful when you want to enjoy some music without having to wear the earbud or headphones. However, just like most speakers, the sound quality coming from one model will be different from the other, especially when they come from different brands.
Sound quality can be personal since not everyone will have the same preference and taste so we will leave it to you but in general the better sound quality always reveals the best part of the mix and you can listen into the details too. The Bluetooth speakers are smaller and this is why they are often more convenient. They can be used in your house with a computer or smartphone or we can bring them outdoors and listen with friends and colleagues.
They are working with batteries and rely on Bluetooth connectivity to connect to the main device in order to send and receive information. This way you don’t need to bring any cable or tools with the speaker unlike the more traditional wired setup. When it comes to choosing the best speakers, you can shop based on the sound quality or additional features that they can offer. Sound quality wise some can be more neutral while some are more prominent on the top and low-end.
For the applications, do consider whether you want to bring them outdoors or only indoor use. Size and weight as well as water proofing may be required for outdoor application and for those who will bring the speaker for long outdoor activities, the build quality is very important. Additionally, some speakers have more features such as Wi-Fi or an ability to be paired with many other speakers and thus, do consider what you will need from the unit.

About Sony SRS XB43 and JBL Xtreme 3
If you want something to accompany the day or prefer to listen to the music through a speaker, there are more than plenty of good options to choose from. These speakers vary based on the brand, size, and sound quality, as well as features. You can select one by one or conveniently choose one from the top options. High chances you will like them as well because there must be a reason why many people choose the product, whether it is for what they can offer or the price point.
There are more than plenty to choose from but some of the most popular options when it comes to Bluetooth speakers will be Sony and JBL. Most people must be familiar with these companies because they are very well-known. Sony for example has been around for so long as one of the most prestigious electronic companies with a wide range of product types. JBL is focusing on audio devices, specifically wireless devices like Bluetooth speakers and wireless earbuds or TWS.
Just like most companies the two have a lot to offer and depending on what you will want from the device, the Sony SRS XB43 and JBL Xtreme 3 are few among the best based on the sound quality and design. We personally love how these speakers are looking because they are different from the typical Bluetooth type. The sound quality is also good and most people will find them fun to listen to yet, they are not exactly identical.
Personally we will recommend the SRS XB43 because the sound quality is almost the same but they are not identical with JBL being slightly better in terms of sound stage. The versatility is the same and they last for quite some time too when it comes to battery life. In addition, we also recommend Sony’s speaker if you want to shop on a budget yet fashion wise we actually like how the Xtreme 3 looks.
Sony SRS XB43 and JBL Xtreme 3 Design
Before getting into what the Sony SRS XB43 and JBL Xtreme 3 can offer, let’s see the design first. Similar to most JBL speakers, the Xtreme 3 comes in this cylinder form and is quite bulky too. What’s so unique is that now they have two steel attachments at the top where you can attach a strap and carry the device like carrying a sling bag. The round shape is added with a flat platform to play the music in horizontal mode but it can be arranged to be vertical as well.
As for the Sony’s speakers, it is already very different with the rectangle shape so naturally the speaker will be laying horizontally. In comparison, it is about the same size but it is fancier because you can find RGB lighting as well on the unit. We actually have a mixed feeling about this feature because somehow the lighting makes the device look cheap. Both speakers have control buttons built-in to the unit and ports collection including the charging port.
Sony SRS XB43 and JBL Xtreme 3 Sound Quality
Now for the most important part, let’s see what the Sony SRS XB43 and JBL Xtreme 3 can offer starting from how they sound. In general the two are fun to listen to and they are not amazingly impressive or poor, just good. There are plenty of details that you can get from these speakers and in comparison the Xtreme 3 is probably warmer in general while the SRS XB43 is more balanced. They are about the same but Sony underemphasized the treble while JBL can’t produce sub-bass quite well.
What’s a bit different in application is because Sony allows for some audio adjustment from the app so you have the option to boost the bass yet, it is not actually improving the sound quality but only making the bass more noticeable because it also suffers from recreating the sub-bass, similar to JBL. As for the soundstage, the JBL is noticeably wider and better to deliver a sense of open sound.
Sony SRS XB43 and JBL Xtreme 3 Functions
Next let’s see the functionalities and controls that you can find on Sony SRS XB43 and JBL Xtreme 3. This part is actually very simple because what you can find is pretty much basic, especially on Xtreme 3. The buttons are for pairing the device, turning the power on, pairing the speakers with other speakers, as well as the volume up, down, and play function. Similarly this is what you can find on Sony’s speaker too but in different fashion.
The rear panel houses the charging port and input but our favorite part is the USB port also charges your device on both speakers so when your main device runs out of battery while outdoors, we can rely on these two like a powerbank.
Sony SRS XB43 and JBL Xtreme 3 Features
Lastly we want to talk about the features of Sony SRS XB43 and JBL Xtreme 3 which can be paired with other similar speakers. The JBL Xtreme 3 supports more speakers with the PartyBoost feature so if you have other JBL speakers, we can let them play simultaneously. The Sony’s speakers have similar ability as well but it is only pairing two speakers to play stereo. As for the build protection, Sony is IPX67, the same with Xtreme 3 meaning that water related activities shouldn’t be an issue for both of them.
Sony SRS XB43 Vs JBL Xtreme 3
There are so many good speakers in which Sony SRS XB43 and JBL Xtreme 3 are some of them. In comparison, the JBL has better soundstage and better pairing ability if you have more JBL speakers around but it is also noticeably more expensive compared to XB43 while for sound wise they are very comparable. The sound character is pretty balanced and fun to listen to with XB43 also carries some EQ from the app to tailor the sound according to your taste.
